Children may be moved to an older age group within the CDC when the center staff and the parents determine that the child has the necessary skills to adjust to the older age group AND a space becomes available to the receiving classroom. Parents will be contacted when a move is being considered. The child will be introduced to the receiving staff members and a gradual transition will begin. The child will make several visits to the new room to participate in the scheduled activities. The transitioning period will usually extend over one week, with each visit being a little longer than the last. Parents will be kept informed of the child's adjustment. When the child is comfortable with the change, he/she will join his/her new friends on a full time basis.
