The Military Child Care
Act (MCCA) of 1989 and 1996 requires parents to be involved in
their children's program. There are several ways you can become
involved in CDS:
PARENT VISITS:
Parents are invited to participate by visiting their child's program
whenever convenient. Parents are welcome to call and discuss areas
of success or concern with any of our directors or direct care
personnel. Children benefit when parents display genuine interest
in their daily activities.
PARENT ADVISORY
BOARD (PAB): The CDCs and the Family Child Care (FCC)
program have advisory committees consisting of interested, volunteer
parents. These groups meet regularly to discuss issues of common
concern involving children and child care. Further information
about the PABs is available at the CDC and/or FCC office. Participation
in the CDC PAB can earn you credit in the WIN program (read on
to find out more about WIN)!
THE WIN PROGRAM:
This is a special program enabling parents to earn up to a 10%
credit on their monthly child care fees at the CDC. Parents perform
essential tasks for the CDC and earn a specific number of credits.
These credits may then be applied toward child care fees. To learn
when the next WIN enrollment/orientation meeting will be held,
check with the CDC front desk staff.
Occasionally, CDCs need
parental input on special projects (i.e. the annual Installation
Child Care Evaluation Team Inspection of all programs). Parent
involvement is important so that the users of our services are
represented in our evaluations.
