SPORTS & FITNESS EVENTS

May 2012 is the Month of Strong B.A.N.D.S. promoting fitness & resiliency - You can WIN prizes every Day!
The U.S. Army Strong B.A.N.D.S. campaign promotes Soldier and Family fitness and community well-being by showcasing garrison physical activities during National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in May.  B.A.N.D.S. stands for Balance, Activity, Nutrition, Determination and Strength -- all key components of overall well-being. A program of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation directorate, the campaign is designed to energize and inspire community members to live a healthy lifestyle. The garrisons will give black and gold wristbands to participants of their activities during the promotion. The black represents determination and the gold, achievement.

Fitness Class Fees
Fort Belvoir Sports and Fitness pays a contractor Non Appropriated Funds (NAF) in order to provide aerobics classes. Without a fee based program, we would not be able to offer the quality or quantity of aerobics classes that we currently have. Thank you for your support.

Each year tens of thousands of runners and spectators come to join in this race classic. The Army Ten-Miler proceeds support Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation, a comprehensive network of support and leisure services designed to enhance the lives of soldiers and their families. The race starts and finishes at the Pentagon, passing by DC landmarks including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the Capitol Building. The annual Army Ten-Miler race weekend events also include a youth run, a youth activity fair, and a pre-race pasta dinner. The race draws a large number of civilian and military running teams.
