Outdoor Recreation: Hunting, Fishing & ArcheryThe Fort Belvoir MWR Archery, Fishing and Hunting Programs have been cited as model programs and received attention in both local and national hunting publications. These facilities are maintained by MWR Range Volunteers. Youth, Adult and Scout Archery Instruction is conducted by Certified NFAA Advanced Level Instructors on these ranges, during specific periods. International Bow hunter Education Program Classes are also conducted in the Archery Center Classroom, by Certified IBEP Instructors in support of the Fort Belvoir Bow hunting Program. Bow hunters interested in deer and turkey hunting on the Post are required to have completed a State Hunting Safety Course, an IBEP Course and to qualify by demonstrating an archery proficiency test with broad head arrows. An annual qualification fee is charged to interested hunters and remains active for participation during the Spring Gobbler season. All appropriate Virginia licenses are also required. Anyone 16 years of older is required to have a VA State Fresh Water Fishing License. They can be purchased at the Home and Garden PX on Post (13th and Middleton Rd), or on line at www.vgdif.gov or www.huntfishva.gov

PROGRAM INFORMATION
Spring Turkey Season 2012
Lottery for 1st Day of Turkey Season (14 April 0500-1200) will be held at 1300, Sunday 1 April 2012, Bldg 778. Call 805-3081 for more information.
Facility Features
The Fort Belvoir MWR Archery Center Operates with:
- One 14 Point Standard Outdoor NFAA Field Archery Course.
- One 25 Point Outdoor 3D Animal Target Range. Targets are placed on this range for specific competitions.
- One eight Point Outdoor Lighted Practice Range with targets at 10,15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 yards.
- One four Point Outdoor Broad head Practice Range with 20 and 30 yard lines and a 16 foot Practice Tower.
- One 18 Point NFAA Indoor 20 yd Practice Range with Block Targets and an official time clock.
- One 10 Point Indoor 15 - 45 yard Practice Range (including a 3 point broad head qualification & practice target).
- An Official Virginia Check Station for Deer and Turkey Season.
FORT BELVOIR HUNTING PROGRAM COUNCIL (FBHPC)
The Fort Belvoir Hunt Council meets every second Wednesday of each month at 1800 at Outdoor Recreation. All who wish to attend are welcomed.
