Outdoor Recreation: Hunting, Fishing & Archery

The Fort Belvoir MWR Archery, Fishing and Hunting Programs have been cited as model programs and received attention in both local and national hunting publications. These facilities are maintained by MWR Range Volunteers.

Youth and Adult Instruction is conducted by Certified NFAA Advanced Level Instructors on these ranges, during specific periods. International Bow hunter Education Program Classes are also conducted in the Classroom, by Certified IBEP Instructors in support of the Fort Belvoir Bow hunting Program. Bow hunters interested in deer and turkey hunting on the Post are required to have completed a State Hunting Safety Course, an IBEP Course and to qualify by demonstrating an archery proficiency test with broad head arrows. An annual qualification fee is charged to interested hunters and remains active for participation during the Spring Gobbler season. All appropriate Virginia licenses are also required.

Anyone 16 years of older is required to have a VA State Fresh Water Fishing License. They can be purchased at the Home and Garden PX on Post (13th and Middleton Rd), or on line at www.vgdif.gov or www.huntfishva.gov
